Tinubu has no hands in SDP – Abimbola, National Legal Adviser

As the scheming for political offices in Nigeria for 2027 slowly gathers momentum, especially for the highest office in the land the speculation that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) party is in Tinubu’s pocket has been debunked by the National Legal Adviser of the party, Aderemi Abimbola.
Since the former governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-rufai formally joined the SDP Tuesday, a lot of attention has been drawn to the party and what the shrewd political may be up to in the politics of 2027.
Speaking with Journalists h at the party headquarters in Abuja, the National Legal Adviser said since he joined the party in 2022, he has never seen Tinubu’s hands in it.
Describing El-rufai’s defection to the party as “a blessing”, Mr Abimbola said so many people have been coming even since last year, but maybe because they are not as prominent as El-rufai, that is why people don’t know.
“SDP has been receiving visitors. It’s like every day. In fact, since the beginning of this year, we have received so many from all the states in the north. Before El-rufai came yesterday, the people from APC supporters in Gombe were here. One of them was the DG of even the campaign of the present governor”.
He said the fortune of the party is soaring because “this is the only party you can say without any crisis, no faction. We have our chairman with commitment and he doesn’t take decisions unilaterally anyway. He consults, and people outside here listen to him in the media; they believe in him, too. Many times, some of them come here because they said they have listened to him on television and they believe that this is the party of the future in Nigeria. Nigeria should look up to a party that can salvage the situation for us”.
To buttress his point that Tinubu does not own or control SDP as being speculated, Abimbola said since he joined, he can say categorically that he has not received up to N2 million altogether as salary and as a sitting allowance, which they are entitled to at any sitting because they don’t have it.
“So, if Tinubu is supporting the party, can we be broke? Tinubu was a member of SDP in the 1992-93. Since I joined this party in 2022, I’ve not seen Tinubu’s hand or any of his agents. I know them; I’m from Lagos too. I lived in Lagos for 30 years before coming to Abuja. So there’s no way I can see Tinubu’s ally, and I, you won’t know? None of them has ever been here since I joined”, he said
Speaking on the economic situation in Nigeria today, he said, “How do we find ourselves here? When I was in school, my meal ticket was 10 kobo, 20 kobo. 10 kobo for breakfast, 20 kobo for lunch, 20 kobo for dinner.
This country is still the best. We can still repeat it. It’s a blessed country. If there’s any country that the Bible says is flowing with milk and honey, Nigeria is the only country. Don’t let us deceive ourselves.
According to him, everybody that travels abroad does not have the kind of resources we have. The answer is no. I’ve travelled abroad several times. When I was an undergraduate, how much was the ticket? N250 for students. When I was serving in NYSC, I was travelling with N350 to London. Up to 1985, it was 500 naira to buy a British Airways ticket. All of a sudden, the inflation started and we found ourselves here.
Now, a dollar to a naira exchange rate is N1,500. When this administration came on board, it was below one thousand naira.
People should know that if the present administration had found capable hands like Okonjo-Iweala, we could not have found ourselves this way.
It’s good you have been elected, but you need capable hands to run the administration.
“Obasanjo looked beyond the party to the extent that all the debts incurred by the administration of General Abacha were cleared.
This is a blessed country; nearly all the states in the federation have one mineraresourcees or the other.
The way forward is this: let those powers under the constitution be devolved to the states or the regions to manage.
You will see the difference; the Western region was developed with cocoa money only, and they had the first television station, the first stadium, the first …, you know what I mean? I was a beneficiary of free education in the Western region. Up to the university level, you are not paying tuition. I only paid for accommodation and feeding.

Nigerian Anglicans Condemn Lesbian Archbishop of Wales, Deepening Global Anglican Rift

…Church leaders accuse Welsh counterparts of “spiritual decadence” and “abandonment of faith”
The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has issued a forceful condemnation of the election of Rt. Rev. Cherry Vann, an openly lesbian cleric, as the Archbishop of Wales. The move is the latest in a series of developments that have deepened divisions within the global Anglican Communion over sexuality and doctrine.
In a statement from Primate The Most Rev’d Henry Ndukuba, the church denounced the election as a “serious departure from biblical teaching” and a sign of “spiritual decadence” and “an outright abandonment of the faith once delivered to the saints.”
Archbishop Ndukuba warned that Bishop Vann’s elevation compromises the Anglican Church’s global mission and could obstruct evangelism. He compared the situation to the controversial tenure of Most Rev. Katherine Jefferts Schori, former Presiding Bishop of the U.S. Episcopal Church, who also faced intense criticism from conservative Anglicans for her progressive views.
The Primate accused Bishop Vann of being complicit in the “ongoing crisis” around same-sex issues, stating that the election is a “clear revelation that many who claim to be members of the body of Christ cannot endure sound doctrine” (2 Timothy 4:3–4).
The Church of Nigeria called on Anglicans worldwide to reject “rebels” and “apostates” and to instead support conservative bodies like the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON).
“The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) condemns, unequivocally rejects, and will not recognize the election of Rt. Rev. Cherry Vann as Archbishop of Wales,” Ndukuba declared. He concluded with a solemn warning that without repentance, the Church in Wales risks losing “complete relevance” and its leaders will face judgment.

Anglican Church Urges Government To Prioritize Citizen Welfare

The Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, has called on political leaders to prioritize the welfare of citizens.
During a recent church service in Abuja, Ndukuba noted that many Nigerians are struggling with challenges brought on by the global economic downturn. He urged state and local governments to implement new initiatives to lessen the impact on their communities.
The Primate also stressed that the federal government must effectively monitor its programs to ensure that Nigerians fully benefit from the nation’s democratic gains. He argued that if the current administration can effectively tackle corruption, the country would significantly benefit from the economic policies of President Tinubu’s government.
Ndukuba concluded by asking the congregation to continue praying for those in authority, remain committed to national unity, and show love and support for the less privileged. He also tasked the newly inducted members of the Church Mothers’ Guild with aggressively spreading the gospel.

Hardship: A Veil Of Sorcery And Darkness Over Nigeria – Pastor Enenche”

Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has expressed deep concern about the current situation in Nigeria.
Enenche stated that the nation is under an evil spell due to the economic hardship affecting the country. He described Nigeria as being covered by a “blanket of sorcery and darkness,” leading many citizens to endure poverty and hardship in silence.
“There’s a blanket of sorcery and darkness over this nation—an evil spell making people tolerate what should provoke outrage,” he wrote.
In a post on his official X account on Thursday, the cleric highlighted the economic struggles faced by many Nigerians, noting that an increasing number of church members now line up after services not for spiritual counselling or prayer, but to help with basic needs such as rent, school fees, food, and medical bills.
“People are suffering. Pastors are exhausted. Members now queue after service not for prayer, but for assistance,” he lamented.
He also criticised political leaders for their insensitivity and failure to address the dire situation across the country.
“Yet, the leaders act as though nothing is wrong. This is not normal—it is witchcraft. It is a spell of patience in captivity, leading to a demonic tolerance of suffering.”
Calling for divine intervention, Enenche declared, “Let every evil spell over this land be broken! Let those misruling with arrogance and mocking the people’s pain face divine judgment. They shall not see the celebration of their wickedness.”
