AHF wants EU, AU to support new global health convention

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), an NGO, has urged leaders of the European Union and African Union to support the adoption of the new Global Public Health Convention/Treaty.
The President of the foundation, Mr Michael Weinstein, made the call in a statement signed by the Advocacy and Marketing Manager, AHF Nigeria, Mr Steve Aborisade in Abuja.
He said the worlds’ inability to respond collectively to the COVID-19 pandemic was a stark indication that we needed to urgently reform the international framework of public health governance.
Weinstein, maintained that until the principles of equity, cooperation, transparency and accountability were enshrined in an international accord, the risk of another pandemic loomed.
He, therefore, called on the EU and AU leaders to act and rise to the support of the new public health convention, saying that the eyes of the world were upon them.
He also advised that nations must commit to real action and genuine partnership on addressing COVID-19 vaccine inequalities, particularly at the EU-AU upcoming summit.
Weinstein said the AIDS Healthcare Foundation was running a campaign, calling attention to the urgent need to “Vaccinate Our World against COVID-19″.
“Globally, AHF works in 45 countries and provides care and services to over 1.6 million patients around the world.
“Ahead of the European Union-African Union summit, we urge you to prioritise actions aimed at righting the inequities that have plagued the COVID-19.
“This will be in the area of response by rapidly increasing the sharing of COVID-19 vaccines, diagnostics, therapeutics, and related technologies.
“The pandemic has made it abundantly clear – a global public health crisis cannot be solved piecemeal; it requires genuine partnership and cooperation.
“To date, the relationship between the EU and AU in responding to COVID-19 can only be described as perfunctory charity. This is not real cooperation.”
According to the him, we will only find a way out of the pandemic if the two continents work together as equals, and we urge you to instill this principle as the motto of the upcoming summit.
“There is no viable alternative to this approach if wealthy countries continue to hoard vaccines or send nearly expired doses to Africa, the waves of the virus will continue to increase.’’
He urged the EU and AU leaders to specifically commit to the actions.
AHF President, urged them to support the TRIPS waiver on vaccine patents and technologies at the World Trade Organisation and make vaccines readily available to everyone who needed them.
He also urged the EU and AU leaders to ensure the vaccines have sufficiently long shelf life to avoid unnecessary wastage, as well as expand local generic vaccine manufacturing, technological capacity, and scientific know-how.
He further urged them to end the pandemic profiteering by pharma companies, fund the vaccine distribution infrastructure and human resources.
He also urged the two continents’ leaders to maintain a transparent dialogue between EU and AU leaders, and engage civil society in the cooperation process.
“The Vaccinate Our World campaign (VOW) was initiated to address the immoral disparity in COVID-19 vaccine access between wealthy nations and those of lower economic status.
“As of today, 10 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered globally, with 80 per cent of those going to people in high- and upper-middle-income countries.
“Less than 16 per cent of the 1.3 billion people on the African continent have received at least one dose.’’

1,000 Prayer Warriors Storm Ilorin for Tinubu, Nation’s Deliverance

In a dramatic show of faith and patriotism, over 1,000 fiery prayer warriors from across Nigeria will descend on Ilorin, Kwara State, this Saturday, lifting their voices in intense intercession for President Bola Tinubu’s success and Nigeria’s survival in the face of biting economic woes and mounting insecurity.
The spiritual siege, themed “Walking in Domini”, is the maiden convention of the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), with its Kwara State Chairman, Evangelist Thomas Adeboye, vowing that “heaven will hear and respond to Nigeria’s cry.”
Aside from marathon prayers, the gathering will roll out free medical outreach to locals across Kwara’s LGAs, a gesture aimed at touching both body and soul.
Adeboye, lamenting Nigeria’s “troubling economic and security realities”, called for a nationwide prayer uprising, insisting that Tinubu has shown the will to revive the nation but needs massive divine backing to succeed.
“Banditry, a collapsing economy, and political tension demand we seek God’s face like never before,” he declared. “We will storm heaven for wisdom for the President and governors to steer Nigeria to safety.”
The convention will also feature awards to distinguished personalities, soul-lifting worship, fiery sermons, and unity-driven lectures—all capped with thunderous prayers for Nigeria’s redemption.
Adeboye urged the President to ensure every policy has “a human face,” stressing that Nigerians must not only endure but also enjoy the fruits of governance.
With the OAIC promising to reaffirm believers’ authority in Christ and rally spiritual boldness in the face of national challenges, Ilorin is set to become the epicentre of a powerful spiritual warfare for Nigeria’s destiny.

Nigerian Anglicans Condemn Lesbian Archbishop of Wales, Deepening Global Anglican Rift

…Church leaders accuse Welsh counterparts of “spiritual decadence” and “abandonment of faith”
The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has issued a forceful condemnation of the election of Rt. Rev. Cherry Vann, an openly lesbian cleric, as the Archbishop of Wales. The move is the latest in a series of developments that have deepened divisions within the global Anglican Communion over sexuality and doctrine.
In a statement from Primate The Most Rev’d Henry Ndukuba, the church denounced the election as a “serious departure from biblical teaching” and a sign of “spiritual decadence” and “an outright abandonment of the faith once delivered to the saints.”
Archbishop Ndukuba warned that Bishop Vann’s elevation compromises the Anglican Church’s global mission and could obstruct evangelism. He compared the situation to the controversial tenure of Most Rev. Katherine Jefferts Schori, former Presiding Bishop of the U.S. Episcopal Church, who also faced intense criticism from conservative Anglicans for her progressive views.
The Primate accused Bishop Vann of being complicit in the “ongoing crisis” around same-sex issues, stating that the election is a “clear revelation that many who claim to be members of the body of Christ cannot endure sound doctrine” (2 Timothy 4:3–4).
The Church of Nigeria called on Anglicans worldwide to reject “rebels” and “apostates” and to instead support conservative bodies like the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON).
“The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) condemns, unequivocally rejects, and will not recognize the election of Rt. Rev. Cherry Vann as Archbishop of Wales,” Ndukuba declared. He concluded with a solemn warning that without repentance, the Church in Wales risks losing “complete relevance” and its leaders will face judgment.

Anglican Church Urges Government To Prioritize Citizen Welfare

The Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, has called on political leaders to prioritize the welfare of citizens.
During a recent church service in Abuja, Ndukuba noted that many Nigerians are struggling with challenges brought on by the global economic downturn. He urged state and local governments to implement new initiatives to lessen the impact on their communities.
The Primate also stressed that the federal government must effectively monitor its programs to ensure that Nigerians fully benefit from the nation’s democratic gains. He argued that if the current administration can effectively tackle corruption, the country would significantly benefit from the economic policies of President Tinubu’s government.
Ndukuba concluded by asking the congregation to continue praying for those in authority, remain committed to national unity, and show love and support for the less privileged. He also tasked the newly inducted members of the Church Mothers’ Guild with aggressively spreading the gospel.
