The Bulgaria News Agency (BNA) and the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) are set to partner to further deepen 57 years of the diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Nigeria.

Mr Yanko Yordanov, Amb. of Bulgaria to Nigeria, disclosed this during his courtesy visit to the Managing Director of NAN, Mr Buki Ponle, on Monday in Abuja.

He noted that much would be learnt about both countries when the partnership became fully implemented, after the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by both agencies.

According to him, the partnership will be centred on what Bulgaria and Nigeria could do together, in very important areas of cooperation through the exchange of news.

Yordanov said: “Bulgaria and Nigeria have witnessed a very long history of friendship and cooperation, which dates back to 57 years ago; these years both countries enjoyed fruitful cooperation.

“Now in Bulgaria, we remember those days and definitely want to get them back to reality, we believe that media contact is an important dimension for cooperation between BNA and NAN.

“So, I am here to express my satisfaction as an Ambassador and finalise the agreement between BNA and NAN, and to extend the regards of the Director General of BNA to you.

“If agreeable in December this agreement can come in to force through signing of MoU; the importance of this document relates not only to the whole perception about cooperation between our countries.

“So, we believe now NAN will present its narrative on what is going on in Nigeria to Bulgaria and vice versa, BNA will offer you our presentation of events in Bulgaria”.

He described the MoU, which would be signed sometime in December 2021, to be timely, saying it will form an important tool for strengthening cooperation between Bulgaria and Nigeria.

“When it enters into force, it will bolster trade between Bulgaria business operators and Nigerians, promote economic cooperation, strengthen institutions in terms of security, agriculture.

“I am very happy to be one mediating between BNA and NAN; hopefully this cooperation will be fruitful and will develop our both nations,” he said.

Responding, Ponle stated that since NAN was established by the Federal Government, it operated in tandem with its mandate on reporting news responsibly and objectively about Nigeria and Nigerians.

He said that since NAN commenced operations in 1978, it established stations located within Africa, Europe, Asia and America, but due to paucity of funds the foreign stations were reduced to three.

According to him, one each are functional in South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire and New York; adding that plans are underway to open more offices, maybe this time around in Bulgaria.

“We want to strengthen our force and we want to resonate not only in Nigeria, but all over the world, as the largest news content producer in Africa, because it is strategic.

“We know Bulgaria in terms of trade, investment and culture, and these are things we want to project to Nigerians and other areas in the world.

“So much has been said about negative perceptions about Nigeria, but when you come into the country you are convinced that the opposite is the case,” Ponle said.

“Yes, there can be challenges which we are trying to overcome, very soon all these spate of kidnapping and banditry will be over.

“The Federal Government is on top of the situation and to deal decisively with the situation to end the vices,” Ponle said.

He noted that NAN evolved into a cutting-edge News Agency and has offices across the country with many subscribers that mostly consist of foreign news agencies where it exchanges news items.

He disclosed that the agency planned to expand its frontiers to meet new age operations and to strengthen its media relationship, adding that it is not going to be business as usual.

He, however, said that the agency is focused on all issues of topical interest within and outside Nigeria, saying when the partnership comes into full operation both countries will mutually benefit.

The high point of the event was the presentation of a literary gift by Yordanov to Ponle. (NAN)

At a solemn ordination service in Abuja, senior church leaders have called on pastors to make the well-being of their congregations a top priority, following the example of Jesus Christ.

Speaking during the priesthood ordination and installation of a Sub Dean at the Cathedral Church of Advent, Life Camp, Abuja, the retired Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Okene, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Ajulo, described pastors as shepherds charged with the care of their flock. He urged them to shun worldly distractions and focus on meeting the spiritual and material needs of their members.

Bishop Ajulo also encouraged the newly ordained priests to remain faithful to their calling by teaching God’s word without compromise.

In his charge, the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, urged the new clergy to preach the undiluted gospel and foster religious harmony wherever they serve. He expressed confidence that their new roles would help promote peace and unity in society.

The service also featured prayers for national leaders and divine intervention in addressing the current global economic challenges.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

In a dramatic show of faith and patriotism, over 1,000 fiery prayer warriors from across Nigeria will descend on Ilorin, Kwara State, this Saturday, lifting their voices in intense intercession for President Bola Tinubu’s success and Nigeria’s survival in the face of biting economic woes and mounting insecurity.

The spiritual siege, themed “Walking in Domini”, is the maiden convention of the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), with its Kwara State Chairman, Evangelist Thomas Adeboye, vowing that “heaven will hear and respond to Nigeria’s cry.”

Aside from marathon prayers, the gathering will roll out free medical outreach to locals across Kwara’s LGAs, a gesture aimed at touching both body and soul.

Adeboye, lamenting Nigeria’s “troubling economic and security realities”, called for a nationwide prayer uprising, insisting that Tinubu has shown the will to revive the nation but needs massive divine backing to succeed.

“Banditry, a collapsing economy, and political tension demand we seek God’s face like never before,” he declared. “We will storm heaven for wisdom for the President and governors to steer Nigeria to safety.”

The convention will also feature awards to distinguished personalities, soul-lifting worship, fiery sermons, and unity-driven lectures—all capped with thunderous prayers for Nigeria’s redemption.

Adeboye urged the President to ensure every policy has “a human face,” stressing that Nigerians must not only endure but also enjoy the fruits of governance.

With the OAIC promising to reaffirm believers’ authority in Christ and rally spiritual boldness in the face of national challenges, Ilorin is set to become the epicentre of a powerful spiritual warfare for Nigeria’s destiny.

Nigerian Anglicans Condemn Lesbian Archbishop of Wales, Deepening Global Anglican Rift

…Church leaders accuse Welsh counterparts of “spiritual decadence” and “abandonment of faith”

The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has issued a forceful condemnation of the election of Rt. Rev. Cherry Vann, an openly lesbian cleric, as the Archbishop of Wales. The move is the latest in a series of developments that have deepened divisions within the global Anglican Communion over sexuality and doctrine.

In a statement from Primate The Most Rev’d Henry Ndukuba, the church denounced the election as a “serious departure from biblical teaching” and a sign of “spiritual decadence” and “an outright abandonment of the faith once delivered to the saints.”

Archbishop Ndukuba warned that Bishop Vann’s elevation compromises the Anglican Church’s global mission and could obstruct evangelism. He compared the situation to the controversial tenure of Most Rev. Katherine Jefferts Schori, former Presiding Bishop of the U.S. Episcopal Church, who also faced intense criticism from conservative Anglicans for her progressive views.

The Primate accused Bishop Vann of being complicit in the “ongoing crisis” around same-sex issues, stating that the election is a “clear revelation that many who claim to be members of the body of Christ cannot endure sound doctrine” (2 Timothy 4:3–4).

The Church of Nigeria called on Anglicans worldwide to reject “rebels” and “apostates” and to instead support conservative bodies like the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON).

“The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) condemns, unequivocally rejects, and will not recognize the election of Rt. Rev. Cherry Vann as Archbishop of Wales,” Ndukuba declared. He concluded with a solemn warning that without repentance, the Church in Wales risks losing “complete relevance” and its leaders will face judgment.
