Emeka Offor Foundation donates N60m worth of rice to armed forces, police
The Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF) donated more than N60 million worth of rice to the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) in Abuja on Tuesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the foundation donated 600 bags of 50kg long grain rice to DEPOWA.
This was after it had donated 1,200 bags of rice to POWA on Monday.
Vice-President of the foundation, Barr. Adaora Offor, said the donations, coming at the Christmas season was meant for distribution to families of deceased and seriously injured service personnel.
She noted that the gallant soldiers died serving their fatherland, while some got seriously injured in the line of duty.
“It is the Christmas season now and we all plan to spend quality time with our loved ones.
“For these soldiers, they don’t have time to spend and celebrate with their loved ones as they are all out there protecting us.
“There is no better time than now to show and share love and compassion with them for all the sacrifices they make to keep us safe,” she said.
She commended the wife of the Chief of Defence Staff and DEPOWA President, Barr. Victoria Irabor on the various welfare programmes she had initiated since assumption of office.
Offor pointed out that the various empowerment programmes designed to empower wives of armed forces and police personnel attracted the attention of the SEOF.
“May Victoria Irabor’s generosity of heart continue to put smiles on the faces of your members as I encourage them to give you support to actualise the aims and aspirations of DEPOWA.
“We are deeply encouraged by our shared relationship and values and we will strive to sustain them in the New Year,” she said.
In his remarks, Chief of Staff to the President of SEOF, retired AIG Chris Ezike, said the gesture was based on the foundation’s core value which centres on health, human services, educational development and social interventions.
Ezike noted that the foundation catered to thousands of widows to empower them and to alleviate their problems.
“SEOF as a non-governmental, non-profit organisation operates on a tripod as our core values.
“We are engaged in activities revolving around health and human services, education and educational development and empowerment and social interventions.
“These activities are aimed at mitigating the challenges of poverty and creating life improving opportunities for the marginalised and vulnerable groups in the society,” he said.
He added that the foundation would begin the commissioning and handing over of houses built for widows and for the downtrodden in the society in 2023.
Receiving the donations, Mrs Irabor thanked Sir Emeka Foundation for its constant support for the military.
“You have come here today to express love, support and encouragement to the military community.
“Your foundation is one of the few foundations in Nigeria that recognise the efforts of the military in keeping the country safe and secure for us.
“You recognise what these men in uniform do and the fact that so many of them have paid the supreme price, leaving families behind to be catered for by the entire nation,” she noted.
She noted also that the SEOF was one of the few foundations that understood the challenges in the military community, adding that the gifts would be judiciously distributed to widows of deceased soldiers.
“We receive these gifts meant for both families of wounded and deceased soldiers wholeheartedly with gratitude to your foundation.
“We assure you that these bags of rice will be judiciously distributed to those that need them.
“On behalf of the military community, wives of all military officers and soldiers we once again say a very big thank you.
“It is our prayer that God continues to strengthen your foundation and endow you with the wherewithal to keep on doing the good work you are doing in Nigeria and globally.
“Thank you for the other projects you are involved in such as the eradication of polio, the empowerment of tertiary institutions and widows as well as the `touching lives’ housing project.
“Thank you for all you do and for what you have done for the military community today,” Irabor said. (NAN)

Clergy Urged To Put Members’ Welfare Above All Else
At a solemn ordination service in Abuja, senior church leaders have called on pastors to make the well-being of their congregations a top priority, following the example of Jesus Christ.
Speaking during the priesthood ordination and installation of a Sub Dean at the Cathedral Church of Advent, Life Camp, Abuja, the retired Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Okene, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Ajulo, described pastors as shepherds charged with the care of their flock. He urged them to shun worldly distractions and focus on meeting the spiritual and material needs of their members.
Bishop Ajulo also encouraged the newly ordained priests to remain faithful to their calling by teaching God’s word without compromise.
In his charge, the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, urged the new clergy to preach the undiluted gospel and foster religious harmony wherever they serve. He expressed confidence that their new roles would help promote peace and unity in society.
The service also featured prayers for national leaders and divine intervention in addressing the current global economic challenges.

1,000 Prayer Warriors Storm Ilorin for Tinubu, Nation’s Deliverance
In a dramatic show of faith and patriotism, over 1,000 fiery prayer warriors from across Nigeria will descend on Ilorin, Kwara State, this Saturday, lifting their voices in intense intercession for President Bola Tinubu’s success and Nigeria’s survival in the face of biting economic woes and mounting insecurity.
The spiritual siege, themed “Walking in Domini”, is the maiden convention of the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), with its Kwara State Chairman, Evangelist Thomas Adeboye, vowing that “heaven will hear and respond to Nigeria’s cry.”
Aside from marathon prayers, the gathering will roll out free medical outreach to locals across Kwara’s LGAs, a gesture aimed at touching both body and soul.
Adeboye, lamenting Nigeria’s “troubling economic and security realities”, called for a nationwide prayer uprising, insisting that Tinubu has shown the will to revive the nation but needs massive divine backing to succeed.
“Banditry, a collapsing economy, and political tension demand we seek God’s face like never before,” he declared. “We will storm heaven for wisdom for the President and governors to steer Nigeria to safety.”
The convention will also feature awards to distinguished personalities, soul-lifting worship, fiery sermons, and unity-driven lectures—all capped with thunderous prayers for Nigeria’s redemption.
Adeboye urged the President to ensure every policy has “a human face,” stressing that Nigerians must not only endure but also enjoy the fruits of governance.
With the OAIC promising to reaffirm believers’ authority in Christ and rally spiritual boldness in the face of national challenges, Ilorin is set to become the epicentre of a powerful spiritual warfare for Nigeria’s destiny.

Nigerian Anglicans Condemn Lesbian Archbishop of Wales, Deepening Global Anglican Rift
…Church leaders accuse Welsh counterparts of “spiritual decadence” and “abandonment of faith”
The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has issued a forceful condemnation of the election of Rt. Rev. Cherry Vann, an openly lesbian cleric, as the Archbishop of Wales. The move is the latest in a series of developments that have deepened divisions within the global Anglican Communion over sexuality and doctrine.
In a statement from Primate The Most Rev’d Henry Ndukuba, the church denounced the election as a “serious departure from biblical teaching” and a sign of “spiritual decadence” and “an outright abandonment of the faith once delivered to the saints.”
Archbishop Ndukuba warned that Bishop Vann’s elevation compromises the Anglican Church’s global mission and could obstruct evangelism. He compared the situation to the controversial tenure of Most Rev. Katherine Jefferts Schori, former Presiding Bishop of the U.S. Episcopal Church, who also faced intense criticism from conservative Anglicans for her progressive views.
The Primate accused Bishop Vann of being complicit in the “ongoing crisis” around same-sex issues, stating that the election is a “clear revelation that many who claim to be members of the body of Christ cannot endure sound doctrine” (2 Timothy 4:3–4).
The Church of Nigeria called on Anglicans worldwide to reject “rebels” and “apostates” and to instead support conservative bodies like the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON).
“The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) condemns, unequivocally rejects, and will not recognize the election of Rt. Rev. Cherry Vann as Archbishop of Wales,” Ndukuba declared. He concluded with a solemn warning that without repentance, the Church in Wales risks losing “complete relevance” and its leaders will face judgment.
